How is Welk Resort Different from Other Timeshare Companies

Owners are strongly urged to upgrade to Experiences by Welk. Hence, owners would be able to buy cheaper travel and put the rewards towards maintenance fees for their ownership. Welk Resort’s 5.5 Million Dollar Payout
In May of 2020, Welk resorts paid out $5.3 million to settle a consumer protection complaint. The lawsuit accuses sales staff of lying or omitting information that would’ve swayed customers from purchasing a timeshare. Their purpose is to get potential buyers to sign the contract before leaving. That kind of unethical salesmanship has not gone unnoticed.
Still, Welks won’t admit to any liability in the case but will pay $2 million in penalties. Nearly 400 buyers will receive amounts from about $500 to as much as $40,000 each.
